Fading treasures and satisfying love.

We are all searching for something. We want love, admiration, respect, and acceptance. We want to be cared for and we want to be pursued. We want to feel secure and for the majority of our lives, we are searching for relationships that will make us feel this way.

We spend unnecessary amounts of time and efforts trying to please others because we think man’s praise defines us. We spend our money trying to purchase wealth because we think that is what will bring us comfort and security.

But the truth is, everything we find here on earth will fade. These so-called “treasures” have no worth and we often forget who we are defined by. There is already a love that defines us, comforts us, and grounds us. There is already a love that pursues us and sacrifices for us.

We don’t need to live for man’s empty praise because God calls us whole and loved in Him. His love is what makes us complete. We may not have many things, but our security is in the fact that God is sovereign over all things and cares for His children. The world’s promises are empty but God’s Word fills us with hope and joy and peace. His love helps us to dance and keep joy in the midst of trials and tribulations.
