Shadows | Leanne

Creativity saves.

For this particular photoshoot, I tried to be resourceful about the environment around me. I used the natural lighting created by the stairwells in order to frame Leanne’s silhouette and it produced illusions of being caged in or trapped.

One thing I’m continuously learning is how to be flexible while I’m shooting. As an artist, you can only prepare for so much. There is a certain amount of intuition and general “feeling” that is required on the fly. When I don’t have what I need for a shoot, I have to be able to look at the environment around me and manipulate the settings creatively to get the desired product.

Oftentimes when things don’t go our way, we feel trapped and limited in our resources. We feel stuck in life and we are unable to see a way out. But if we take a look at the world around us instead of focusing on the problem, then perhaps we can create beauty out of ugly moments.
